After last seasons split with Austin Ducati I thought Anthony would be living off the money he has made in the past. Then he gets another chance and looses that job. I was looking forward to seeing him do well this year and to see if he could get up to the front and now this.
1.) A cat has 9 lives, how many chances does he get?
2.) Will he ride a good bike again or is this it?
3.) If he had some beers and gets pulled over in an incident not related one bit with racing, should he be fired?
I am a fan and hope to see him race again, but will it happen this time?

It is related. He's a representative for Erion.  He's a face on their company as well as a racer.  It's up to them if he's worthy of a job as their "face". I imagine some companies have higher standards than others of employee behavior.  

He can always buy his own bikes and gear and not have to answer to anyone.

The "Dell Guy" got fired for being arrested, (not convicted) of posession of weed.

Depends on Gobert's contract. If he has a lifestyle clause and violates it, they can do whatever they want with him.

Heather- the face of Erion.. I guess I look at it like this: A motorcycle racer in the United states ( road racer) is not really know outside the motorcycle world like a McGrath or James Stewart. If this made the Milwaukee journal, the .05 % of us that know who is is it might have an impact on. I guess what I am trying to say is what Alexa said-" if it's in his contract" Imagine if everyone lost there job for 1 too many at the x-mas party? There is a good possiblilty he had something in his contract and this would be the only reason I can see for the release from his contract. Other then that, this impacts such a small amount of people and you can't include every motorcyclist- Heck, go to Bike week and most people down town know nothing about the races and they live motorcycles. :-X

 I'm not sure about a lifestyle clause in any contract. However, Honda, not Erion, but Honda has been pretty strict in the past about their riders' actions, even actions that are lawful. They lost McGrath to Yamaha as he was riding Yamaha watercraft, Honda did not make something at that time.
  I recently let go of an office with a local moto club as there was way to much acceptance of coke use in the club. I struggled with that decision as I love riding. However, my main sponsor would have given me the boot had the cocaine issue hit the law or papers as related to that club, and me. It's a personal decision to accept or walk away. No contract can make a drunk put down the drink. Unfortunate in this case in particular with Anthony. I still pull for him though. :) I think he's got 3 or 4 lives left.

Don't know, I'm not his lawyer. But I believe it is becoming the standard in athletic contracts to have a lifestyle clause. This would prevent the contractee from engaging in anything that could injure them outside of their sport, (i.e. skydiving), or hurt the reputation of the sponsor, (i.e. DUI, murder, rape).

This is America, so those contracts would probably also specify that there be a conviction on the alledged charges, not simply an arrest. So until there's hearing, (where he could cop a plea to a lesser charge), there may be no official action by the team.

Money talks.  Those dudes all make/made serious money for their respective organizations.  Anthony generates chump change by comparison.  

Anthony has a clear and proven track record.  His actions that day brought him to the attention of law enforcement for some reason.  He's lucky he didn't kill anybody.  He would have been fired for sure if he did, as would any other "real" celebrity.

That's really the issue.  Should he be fired for what he does and the potential consequences, or does Kevin Erion tempt fate and allow Anthony to continue to display incredibly poor judgement and kill somebody?  I'd drop him like a hot rock and spend the money I saved not having to have a lawyer on retainer for the inevitable Tony G screw-up to hire an up-and-comer who wants to succeed.

It's not a right to have a job.  It's a privledge--especially in sports.  You have to keep a tight rein on your policies to set precedent. I'm surprised he was ever hired by Erion/Honda in the first place.  

Now if he's a racer, he'll race--right Dave.  He'll go buy a bike and race the thing.
