So the date's been changed from Sept. 24-26 to Sept. 17-19.

"Las Vegas Motor Speedway has stated that Formula USA could stay on the same weekend, however the new date works well with the Pacific and Southwest regional CCS schedules, and the old date would prove difficult with the shortage of hotel rooms and traffic problems which would likely negatively impact the event."

Shortage of hotel rooms?!  In Vegas?!  Please.  Obviously LVMS has an inability to handle multiple racing events.

Uhm.. rooms in Vegas aren't cheap if your not gambling.  Maybe "racer priced" rooms is what they're referring to  ???  I can't see hundreds of racers paying $200.00 a night at the Mirage.   Know what I'm getting at?

Just sit down at a table...gamble semi successfully(sp) for a couple of hours and you'll get a room for free. I just came back from Vegas. Left w/$900, came back w/$1500, not huge amounts of money but when I checked out from NYNY, my room for the last 3 nights was free along with a nice breakfast buffet before I went to the airport ;D

All of the MGM casinos have that "Players Club" which racks up comp points every time you sit down at a table and present the card.

MV - ever been near a NASCAR race?  Even a truck race is will blow any motorcycle road race out of the water.  It will cause traffic and lodging issues on a par with Daytona.  Moving it was a very smart decision.

Would you REALLY want to try to get into a race track when 200,000 NASCAR fans are trying to get in?

Not me....

CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

So they moved the LV weekend???

Sh*t.

My dad already filed his vacation request so he could drive our trailer out there.  It's going to be very difficult for him to change.....

Satire from me...

Omni- I know it sucks, but if they did not change the date- your dad would have to add vacation days just to get out of the track.  Unfortunatly (sp?) the Vegas track has only two ways in.  One is all surface streets with stoplights every thirty-seven feet or so, the other is on to the I-15 which has had construction on it every time I have been to Vegas for the last 15 years!  Add 200k Pabst swilling, Lumina driving Neckcar fans and you have hillbilly gridlock!   :D

I think the move is  a good one.  We stay in one of the hotels in ghetto land near the Air Force base so we are close to the track and don't have to deal with more than 17 stoplights in our 10 mile trip- Iknow these hotel would be filled, not to mention the Wal Mart just down the road and all the nearby restaurants and gas stations.  Anybody who has been to a CCS at Vegas knows that I am at my wits end after a weekend of "announcing" through a bull horn while circling the pits on a Zuma and the last thing I need is Cletus and Emma Rae holding up my escape to Phoenix!!   BTW, I have a Dale Earnharrt plastic bottle of popcorn for auction- never opened- bidding starts at $125.00.

While I've got you here, Mr Stem, is there camping at the track?

Dave- Lately there has not been track camping and sometimes there is.  It really depends on the track and security issues.  However in town, there is a ton of rv camping and that.  Also for those with military retirement or still active duty, Nellis Air Force Base is right across the road.  I would shoot Kevin and crew an email and phone call about camping at the track.
