2000 R6 carbs

With these carbs, do you have to run that rubber heat shield under the carbs in racing applications?

you dont have to but youll gain more hp from it up to as much as 10 hp.i had 2 layers on my old 01 R6 i gained 7 on the dyno when i was testing it out....cold fuel burns faster and better i guess so if you get some heat directly off carbs it helps alot...
