I was at Summit yesterday with MARRC getting stuff ready for the season- went over to the new track....Sorry I don't have pics but its REALLY far from being done, and its NOT motorcycle friendly. There are a few pretty dangerous spots where there is a huge potential for a crashed bike/rider cab cross into another part of the track into opposing traffic.
There is about a 40 ft drop off the top of the "ring" section of the track (the pics were posted here of it).

They're going to be putting up walls, probably in those spots where'd you go across onto other parts of track.  The 40' drop doesn't surprise me too much, maybe they'll fill the bottom with boiling oil or put up some Normandy/Omaha beach style obstacles for on the way down.

Sorry to sound upset but since Summit is the only track I go to, I really had my hopes up that it would be more bike friendly...  I guess I'll just have to hope we keep using the Main circuit, which I think is a pretty safe track.

i thought the bikes weren't going to running the 'ring' anyway

QuoteWe are to run the dark blue.  Dafan was correct we will not be on the bowl.  But when u look at the pic of the dark blue u will see a light gray line ( that line is a to be a wall.  The straight with the kink. .. the out side of it has a wall.  For a better view of that oh so nice long wall.  some of the wall is already up

Ok. The track isn't much further along than the posted pics- and there is no indication of where the "cut over" to avoid the ring will be placed...the only difference between those pics and now is there is some sort of gravel surface where they will eventually pave the straight area under the bridge.
