Helmet numbers

Hey everyone,
I noticed the new rule about having numbers on the chin bar or sides of your helmet but didn't see any specifications on size, color, legibility, ect...

Does anyone know how big these numbers should be and where to buy them?  Do I need to visit the local vinyl sign shop?

IIRC they were supposed to be 1" high.  But there was no statement as to whether they had to be a certain color, font, etc.

I'm having mine painted on.  Between the painted on #'s on my helmet, and my name all over my leathers, I'd have to be pretty dead for them to not be able to recognize me...

Writing them on with a Sharpie pen was good enough to pass tech at the Firebird race last weekend.

The official word is- rather unofficial- but since I do work for CCS- here we go.  The numbers are to identify the rider in a multi bike accident.  We can glean alot fromthe crached bieks as to who was on what and what the possible injuries may be.  OUr emt's can then also act accordingly. As elaine said, the sharpie thing worked on duct tape or sticky lables.  Although there is no official placement or size I recommend it be on the chin bar , right or left side- at least 1-1 and 1/2 inches high and LEGIBLE.  Also as a side bar- I recommend that you carry some form of ID with you in your leathers.  Pink copy in a parts bag works well.  It has your name, DOB, phoen and emergency contact all on it.  We had one racer fall and become unconscious for a few minutes last weekend.  I reached into his leathers, found his Pink copy (gotta be careful how I word that!) and confirmed that the name he was telling the emt's was correct and that he knew whne he was born.  As far as painting numbers, that is a good and acceptable idea, just make sure it is easy to decipher.  Have fun!

The only problem I can see with painting your numbers on is if you ride different bikes and classes and have different numbers. I kept getting hassle because the number on my helmet in the team challenge practice did not match the bike I was on. It was one digit off.
