Be careful when dealing with anybody, get everything in writing and don't trust that they will do it for you unless it is in writing. Yes I speak from expreince on this subject. If you do something and expect to get something for it you had better had it in writing. I am no longer raceing because I got screwed big time by a sponsor and now am left without a bike or the means to get one. Just wanted to help out all you racers and hope that the up coming season is good for all.

Details??

It might help someone from getting just as screwed.

Sorry about your loss.

Smoke I would like to thank you for your offer but right now I'm taking time off to look into other options. As for what happened, I was told that everything would be paid for all I had to do was go out and win championships. Well it started real good and then turned sour when I needed repairs after a crash. From there the problems just got worse and I was starting to pay for alot more which wasn't bad considering that I was enjoying racing. I was told that if I won a championship on the bike that my sponsor paid for that it would be mine, well I won three on that bike but now the bike was sold out from under me. I know only a select few get the chance that I had but I did what I said I could do and wanted the same in return, do what you say you will do and expect that those around you will do what they say and you will get burned in the long run without proof. Some of you know me real well and know that I would do what ever I could to help a fellow racer or friend. I got burned only because I trusted someone who I shouldn't have. If and when I go racing again it will be on my own or with a sponsor who has seen to it to write everything down and stand behind what they say.

Except with larger companies, potential sponsors don't have standard sponsorship contracts.  Just write your own with the details of the agreement and make sure you and the sponsor both have signed copies.  Note that the details are not just what the sponsor will do for you, but what you will do for your sponsor.

Hmm, sounds almost like a political slogan.... :-*
