sorry but i do feel if maladin was on a sv he would still beat you ...look at the times barney ran at daytona 1:58's on an old honda hurricane,it was the rider(and the handleing...go GMD) not the bike's hp that made it possible.i felt great doing a 1:33.8 at barber, then v.haskovic got on bike and did a 1:30 on a bike he never rode before...it was humbleing

I would bet the farm the wife etc I would beat Maladin if he was on an SS SV and I was on a factory Ducati at Daytona and even roebling. Even if I poked along the back turns at Roebling I could be down the front straight into turn 1 before Maladin on the SV even farted coming by the start finish line. ;D ;D Im guessing I could put 7-8 sec a lap on him just on the front straight. Then he might get me by say 5-6 back in the turns because his bike would be lighter and he is a better rider. I would still beat him 2-3sec a lap very easily. How sure are you that he would beat me? ;D If we were on equal SVs no question he would beat me.  ;D I kinda saw the same thing this past year with Eanes on his Ducati and James Chance on a SV in a Supertwins race at roebling. Chance an AM, had been kicking everyones butt that whole weekend even the experts in LTW SBK GP SS, 1.18s on an SS SV. He decided to race Supertwins against Eanes on his ducati. James to say the least didnt have a Chance. ;D ;D He could kinda hang with Eanes in the back but stood no chance down the front. All a SS SV can do at Roebling is 1.18 possibly a 1.17.9, thats it, done dont matter the rider, it doesnt have any more power. Anyway this same question is about to be anwsered in MotoGP, Rossi wont be on the best bike this year, lets see if he can win on the Yamaha. I think he can because he is God like on a bike, now Rossi on the SV and me on the Factory Ducati, I wouldnt bet on that one ha ha, ;D ;D

Hey, don't date the bike that far back...it was an CBR600F2...Hurricane's were CBR600F(1)'s...was a nice jump in power and chassis.

And regardless, yeah, ridin' and chassis...that's where it's at, I agree.

Well, then we'll expect SV's with 650cc's to go faster than inline fours with 600cc's...

one last go round...tommy hayden won 5 superstock racers on a 636 with 125 hp against 750's with 140+ hp against some very talented people (incl. at daytona)

Best take another look at that "old" Honda Barney was riding at Daytona.................... How much of that was F2 and how much was F3? And trust me it wasn't in Supersport trim. ;D

porky

the thing about it is is eanes is a good rider but the horsepower made a difference, bottom line. He will have a tough time on equal bikes against experts. I won  the twins race at barber on a bone stock 998 on saturday, and brown beat me on sunday, but i beat numerous guys on modified bikes. Plain and simple depending on the track 180 hp will make a difference against 120 hp any day.
