hey all I have 2 questions about daytona

1. is there any elec. outlets along pit road? I am thinking about setting up a canopy on pit road and do the endurance race, qualifying and races from there instead of going back to the garages, is that possible?

2. what is the procedure for sportbike/superbike pre-race ceremony? I see in the rule book that you/bike must report to pit road for pre-race, how does that work, do you stage on the grid for a while before the race is run?

thanks

1--yes, elec. outlets all down pit lane.

2--ignore those 'procedures'.  Every F/USA event has done it 100% different and I make sure to ask what they plan to do each time.  For example:

Loudon--they had us on the hotpit waiting while they did interviews with the front guys.  I threw the bike on stands with the warmers on.  I think we were out there for at least 15-20 minutes.

VIR--we were stuck on pre-grid for 5-10 mins but only cuz the track wasn't ready to go green yet.  Again, stands and warmers.

Summit--they made 3rd and final call and then left everyone to hang dry for 20+ minutes for what appeared to be absolutely no reason at all.  Stands and warmers again.

Daytona--3rd call, get on the bike, get to pregrd, go race.  No delay, nothing (and they were AHEAD of schedule).

so you are saying just set up along pit road and wait for them to make the cost is best?

thanks for the info, just trying to be mentally prepared and... its snowing and I am bored and can only daydream

well, i've only been there once, but that one time, last October, i setup an ez on the cold pit, put my bike under there set it up on stand, warmers, etc.  brought over whatever tools i might need, etc.

All the top guys did it, so I figured, what the hell.  I hung around in my garage until 2nd call, went out to my canopy, warmed the bike up a lil.  When 3rd call was made, I mounted up but left the warmers on until the very last second, then hit the hot pit where we just went right into our warmup lap.
