Help!  How do I remove 5mm And 6mm rivnuts from an aluminum swingarm without screwing it up for reinstallation of the rivnuts after the swingarm is chromed? Thanks for any advice.

Hey there Chops,

I just noticed your post.  If you're still in need of an answer....  You can't remove the rivnuts.

The rivnut "mushrooms" as you tighten down on it.  That's what holds it in place.  I beleive you'd need to drill a hole slightly larger than the visible lips of the rivnut in order to make a hole big enough to remove the rivnut.

While you may locate a replacement rivnut large enough for the new, larger hole, I doubt it will have an interior threading for 5 mm and 6mm.

You may wish to plug the rivnut hole with cloth, tape over the opening and trim the excess tape with a razor so as much of the swingarm as possible will still get chromed.

Just my $0.02. :)  Good luck with your project.
