I hope you'll excuse the dramatic subject ;D

Yesterday I went to the local airport (PNE, Philadelphia North East), a small airport mainly for private planes, and went for an "introductory flying lesson".  It was awsome!  I made the appointment last week and showed up with my girlfriend...  It was a small company (NorthEast Aviation) with 3 planes.  The instructor, Jimmy, went out to the plane with me and we looked over all the gauges and controls, talked about how it all works and went for a ride!  The plane has 2 sets of controls, I got to do most of the flying while Jimmy made sure I didn't kill us.  He let me take off and fly around for a little while all the while explaining how it all works.  All in all it was .5 hours on the ground and .5 hours in the air, my girlfriend was welcome to come along and sit in the rear seat but she chickened out last minute.  The total cost was $55, it will definitely be a Christmas gift for someone next year.

I would like to find a place that will take me up in a Pitts bi-plane and go through the aerobatics. Open cockpit while flipping through the air would eb a blast.:D:D:D

I plan to get a bi-plane before I retire.  I'd like to have a few acres to take off & land, maybe fly through a few barns  :o (no, not really).

If you call a few of the little local airports in your area, I'm sure you could find someone to take you up.

Cool stuff.   I did the same thing a few years ago in CA after seeing one of those 1800beapilot commercials.  It was a blast!  I wound up with a little over 15 hours in my logbook before moving to VA and going broke with the racing and other financial stuff.  One day I would love to finish and get my pilot's license.

Never seen a biplane at the local airport except for a stunt show.

Wow very cool!!!!

I've been a licensed pilot since 1996.  Do it...it's so much fun!  If I can give you any advice...when you start training blast through it with a vengence.  I thought I could take lessons as I could afford them and found myself falling backward in training.  It will be easier and less expensive by taking it straight through.  You will be certified faster.   ;D ;D

I think I may take the classes if it doesn't interefere with this race season.  Actually getting the license is a few $K but spread out over a year or two...

Funny story, my Great Aunt was taking flight training in the late 1930's.  Back then you could only get training at Army Air Corp (pre Air Force) bases.  when world war 2 started, she got kicked out as she's an Italian citizen...  I hope to take her up some time.

I wanted to, but they didnt hve the sport pilot cert. And I couldnt swing $5000 that the local training center wanted.

They do if you have an ejection seat.
