Any opinions as between the top 'o the line race boots?  Any difference in quality?

I have Sidi boots but am considering replacing them.  I saw a deal on Oxtar that looked pretty good but I don't know the brand.

Thanks,

I Just replaced my AlpineStars with Oxtars, They look really nice and the quality is good too. I was comparing them with the Sidi and they looked pretty close. Haven't crash tested them YET though :)

Thanks,

My sidi's have been tested a bit  ;) and held up great!  If it's not broke, why fix it?  Proven quality -vs- unproven, I won't take that chance.  Just my opinion.

I saw the new Joe Rockets recently...

Made like the top shelf Daytona or Dainese boot with the CF inner and leather outer skin... REALLY cool

The Daytona's are like $800 Dainese are $1200

Joe Rockets are $299 retail!!!

Juts an idea, but I think a good one...

me and my brother crash tested oxtar boots in roadraces in ireland.

they are brilliant,

like guinness in a bottle, brilliant.

Thanks for the replies.  I'll go with the Oxtars.  If they're good enough for Stumpy and the Irishman they're good enough for me. ;)

I like the Sidi's but they won't allow the U.S. dealers to discount the price and Oxtar, which passes CE rules in Europe, does.  As long as the quality is comparable it looks like a better deal.

Happy New Year all. 8)

I have Oxtars and they are nice boots for the price ;D. I dont like the new alpinestars, too much hard plastic. :P The oxtars dont have alot of plastic, they are mostly a type of synthetic leather. ;D

The Oxtars bug me, as they always come undone when I'm on the bike.  That inner velcro always comes off somehow.  Anyone else have this problem?

Other than that, they're a nice boot.  (but I just got Alpine Stars for Xmas)  :)

I had a piar of Alpine Stars  SMX plus ..   they didnt wear very well for 1 season ..

FWIW, the Alpine Stars fit better than the Oxtars IMO.  While the Oxtar's have a welcro/zipper, the Alpine's have the zipper, along with the "rachet" lock system that you see on dirt bike boots.  Much easier to tighten down I think.
