I need proof of completing an approved rider school when I submit my license app.

So, if I plan on attending a rider school at the track the weekend of a race and participate in the races that w/e, then what number (if any) must be on my bike?  ???  Do I show up with no number?   :-/  Can I ride with my own number for that w/e  ;) then change to the official number for future races?

I know the license app. allows me 3 possible choices for a number.  However, the app. won't be turned in until the w/e's races.

TIA

Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas to all :D

FOr the rider school, you dont need a number.

When you pass and apply, they have a sheet with available numbers that you can pick from.

Thanks Rob.  Though I didn't express myself very well  ::)

I realize that numbers aren't necessary for the school.  I'm wondering how to be prepared for that first race w/e (assuming it's the same w/e as the race school so I'd apply for my license on-site, same day).

There are just too many number possibilities to come to the w/e with numbers that I've purchased ahead of time.  Should I just have blank yellow number fields on the bike?  Are there numbers available for sale at the races?  What's the air speed of a swallow?   ;)

Airspeed of a swallow is 34mph for a barn swallow. ;D

Here you can buy numbers from some of the vendors. Just sow up with a yellow blank plate.:D:D

Roger that Rob  :)

Thanks.  Not a bit of doubt in your answer.  So I guess you can cross the bridge.

Now let's see... about that European swallow....

Another option to get you by for your 1st event would be the almighty black tape/electrical tape. Just have some scissors or an x-acto type knife with you to trim the tape a bit into numbers and it will work just fine for your initial outing. Just make sure that you don't buy the really cheap stuff because it might not stay on that well. The tape can become very useful in the future when you need to do a quicky electrical bandage or temporarily fix 1 of your permanent numbers after a little agricultural racing.  ;)

And on the subject of tape also get some color co-ordinated duct tape to match the various colors of your bike, including the wheels. Some of the tech inspectors will require that you have your wheel weights taped over with duct tape to stop them from flying off at other racers. It looks alot better when the tape matches the color of the wheel, makes the tape blend in and looks a bit more professional. And the other colors of duct tape will probably be your best freind some day when you decide that staying on the track isn't exciting enough and you decide to plow rows in the gravel trap with the bodywork on your bike! :)

Great tips Mike :D

Especially the ones about the colour matched duct tape.

Kinda reminds me of something I'd heard before.  Duct tape is like "the Force."  There is a dark side and a light side... and it is all around us  ;D
