Janklow guilty

I read over on RRW that Congressman Bill Janklow was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of motorcyclist Randolph Scott.  Janklow faces 10 years in prison for his conviction.  I heard he will resign from the House of Representatives in mid-January.

Lets hope they throw the book at him. >:(

As a Senate employee (D) I hear to many stories about politicians getting away with too much...  The fact of the matter is Janklow had a history of overly agressive driving right up until he got into elected office, at which point either he became more responsible or met people who could fix his tickets...  anyway I'm glad his bullsh1t "I was in a diabetic blur" defense failed.  I think his case was an insult to his office and a blatant demonstration of the effects of abuse of power.  Maybe now a Senator or House of Rep. license plate won't be enough to keep the cops away at 100+ mph, but I know better... >:(

 In a part of the testamony, a trooper admitted he let him off for over 100 while he was governor. I'm sure that didn't help his case. I'm waiting for the sentence before I get a better attitude about the judicial process. But it's a start.

And for him to use his diabetes as an excuse is pathetic.

I also have diabetes and here I was thinking I'd try and use it as an excuse for not making my car payment on time.

A good few years back, a politician killed a guy on an FJ Yamaha in North Carolina.  As I remember, he turned left in front of the bike, the bike hit his van, and he just drove away.  Witnesses got the plate, but a trooper didn't even go to see him until the next day. (By then he was quite sober...)  The pol said that he didn't realize he'd been struck, even though the side of his van was caved in.  Does anyone know what the final outcome of that incident was?

I hope you're joking, Eric.  The event I'm referring to was covered big-time in the AMA membership magazine, but my membership lapsed before the incident was resolved.  (I was kinda pissed about the whole NASB thing...)

Yes, a highway was named after him.  That  incident alone has probably sealed the fate of Bill Janklow.  Outrageous.
