Hey SW and Pacific region racers,  I want to thank you all for a great year!  The action this year was probably the best I have seen in about six years, and being the announcer for the SW region I should know!  I really look forward to 2004 and hope you all return and bring your friends- full grids make me smile and lose my voice by Sunday race #8.

Now I would like some input from you.  I don'tr get to announce the Pacific region since they got someone (but I love going there when I can) but I get all the Firebird and Vegas races.  I want to know if there is anything I am lacking (besides a spell checker on this forum) while manning the microphone?  Do I talk to much? too little?  What do you want to hear and what can you do without?  Now, rememberto look at this not just as racers but as spectators who may know very little about what's going on.

I appreciate your input and thank you in advance.  ALSO- Please email me with any new info you get for the new year concerning your racing, rehab, new bikes etc. or just to say hi.  Thanks again for the great year- See you in '04- Cory

Cory,

You've been doing a great job announcing.  It was nice to be able to hear the PA throughout the pits last weekend (no riding through the pits on a moped announcing calls with a bullhorn).  I even got to hear Elaine's name quite a bit yesterday  :D

You've already seen my CR500 supermotard winter project in the pits, so hopefully you'll see it on the track next year...

Thanks Zak!  And congrats to Elaine for her class championships. Have fun with the motard project- they are real fun to ride!

Thanks Cory!   :)  And I agree with Zac that you've done a great job as announcer this year!  That job is WAY tougher than it looks.  I stepped in and announced a Formula 40 race for the ASMA club in NM (the regular announcer was racing) last month, and it was harder than I thought.  Normally I'm used to public speaking, but not when stuff is happening so fast and you're watching from on top of a tower.  I screwed a few names up (felt dumb after that) and had a hard time filling in the voids when not much was happening but the race was still going on.  I don't know how you guys can do it and keep it all running smooth for an entire race and the entire race day.

It's cool to hear what's going on in the pits, since often times many can't watch an entire race or see all parts of the track.  I just hope the system works a bit better next year so it won't flake out, and we'll get to hear more.

I think the amount of talking is just about right.  Maybe help the spectators understand more about each class by letting them know the difference between classes...why the bikes are different in the current race compared to the last race, what the bikes are restricted to to be legal for the class, etc.  I think that's helpful for them.

We'll be back, and will see you next year!  I'll be racing a TZ 250 in addition to the MZ, so we'll see how it goes!

I think you do a terrific job and I also was very happy that we finally had a working PA system this past weekend.  You are very gifted in the PA announcing arena!

Litespeed

I have to agree with the others.  You have done a superb job of announcing the events this year and I'm looking forward to seeing you doing it next year (and at the upcoming motocross races  ;D).

Thanks to all for the nice words.  Now someone out there has to have some destructive criticism on what I could do better!

The only thing is to be able to hear you every weekend like at firebird. You are good at what you do and definately do not talk less it is good for spectators and racers to hear what is going on, And all  the extra info you throw in is a plus. Keep up the good work.

Cory, great job, I mean  it. I t was great having you as the announcer it made the weekend a lot better always having some noise. I'll see ya next year and I'll work on those interviews. ;)

cstem

Thanks Tristan, You better work on those interviews because I think you will be up for more in the future!!

I agree with the rest of them, you did a great job this last weekend.  Talk more not less and keep coming to the races.  We need you.
