Wildfires near Buttonwillow?

Anyone know if the wildfires in California might affect the Buttonwillow race this weekend?  I can't find a detailed map on the web showing where the fires are.  I'm driving over from Phoenix and I see there are a couple fires near San Bernardino but I'm not sure where.  Sometimes I head North at San Bernardino to avoid the LA rush hour but it looks like that may not be an option.

The AOL web site keeps referring to the San Diego area...Go up 17 to Flagstaff and across and you will totally avoid the LA area!

Yeah, definately take the northern route since I have heard parts of I-10 are closed at this time and (my guess only) will be closed this weekend.  Good luck.

Racers!  Never ones to let a little thing like a National disaster get in the way of their track time... :o
Is it any wonder why I can't relate to people from the "Real World?" ::)
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

National disaster...due to total disregard for the risk factors that lead to this kind of disaster!

"Let's surround our homes with kindling and see what happens!" ???

How about build on a flood plain near a huge river?

Can we get these people together in a potential crater from a comet or something.... 8)

It's Interstate 10 so we Western types call it I-10.  Sorry for the confusion.   ;D

And last report is that all highways are currently open and only some of the mountain roads are closed to you can probably get to Buttonwillow anyway you want though I would still go across up North to avoid the ash in the sky.

"Super" Dave is right on track! ;D

Heh, that gave me a good chuckle and feel proud for getting to race with some of y'all at the same time. :)

The Cali guys I knew always seemed to call interstates "the"

Like, "Yeah, so I jumped on the 5, but it was a mess," or, "Take the 10 over from..."

Maybe it's a LA thing?  Not sure.  Have even heard it on traffic reports from LA.  Haven't heard that in Northern California, though...but that's like a different state sometimes...
