Hey all...

Wondering what I need to know to come down to race at Daytona this coming Feb. - Mar.  I've been racing with the CRA (Central Roadracing Association) in MN now for approx. 4 years.  I'd like to get information on topics like...2004 Schedule, 2004 Rulebook, Race Registration (when can I register, how much is registration, where do I find the forms, etc.), Can you camp at the track and for how long?  Lot's more questions...probably too many to post here.  I'll be heading down from MN and would like to get this trip in order long before I leave.  Who knows....maybe I'm already starting too late on this journey.  If there's anyone out there that I can speak with over the phone or through private messages...that would be great.  Thanks in advance....

Billy,

I live in Minneapolis and have gone down to Daytona before. Email me at ED@zhcomputer.com and I can answer all the questions you have about it.

Don't give up on your dreams! If an illiterate like K3 can write a book, imagine what you can do!

You can't camp at Daytona International Speedway.

You can enter the races at Daytona when the event specific form is mailed out, no sooner.  So, mail plays a part in everything there.

You'll need to probably have a CCS license to be on the mailing list.

And Edgar will help... ;D

Thanks for the information so far guys.  One question I still need answering....I've heard everyone saying that I need to get on some sort of a mailing list.  Where do I sign up for this list so I can get the applications needed to fun with you guys next year??  I can find the 2003 forms, but I don't think that does my any good right now.  When do the '04 forms become available?  Is there someone I can contact to get my name on a 'list'??

Contact CCS.  Make sure that you apply for a license asap.  That SHOULD get you on the list...but I'd call them to make sure.

items of note for Daytona.

1.  No bicycles allowed.
2.  Pitbikes may not have a license plate.  (Workaround - magnets to hold it on, hide when going into paddock.)  A pitbike is very worthwhile...due to the sheer size of the track.  So is a cart to cary tires & fuel!!!
3.  Guards - do NOT piss them off.  Talk nicely, offer donuts & coffee in the morning.  You want them to remember and LIKE you.  They are much more amenable to gettig your car/truck into paddock when you need to this way.
4.  Track closes 1 hour after last race.  You can't stay in the track after this time.
5.  You can try to get a covered garage...send in your entry early to get one.  Pairing upwith somebody else usually seems to help as well.
6.  Get a hotel that is nearby.  Warning...you WILL hear harley's revving at 3 am if you are near Daytona International Blvd.  Try the Hampton Inn at Ormond beach otherwise.  decent price, quite, restaurants nearby, and only abotu 15 minutes away - 2 exits north on I95.
7.  Registration will SUCK.
8.  Do team hammer practice in case the regular practice is rained out.  (or vice versa.)
