I'm posting this on several message boards to get the word out, so if you see this more than once, that's why.

Jimmy Moore was injured at Brainerd in June after low-siding in Turn 1. He slid 230 yards across wet grass and hit a tree, rupturing his spleen, breaking an upper arm and fracturing a hip. The link to the Roadracing World article is here: http://venus.13x.com/roadracingworld/scripts/NewsInsert.asp?insert=6525

Jimmy has been a guest instructor at Arroyo Seco in NM for the past few years. He comes down every December to offer advice and instruction to those that attend the track day. Only his travel expenses have been reimbursed in the past. He takes the time out of his busy schedule to come down to pass on his passion for this sport. Since he has been such a great influence at Arroyo and an all-around great guy, Arroyo Seco Motorcyclist Association (ASMA) has set up a fund for those that wish to contribute to help out his large medical expenses: http://www.asmaracing.com/ Yes, Jimmy does have medical insurance, but there are always things that insurance doesn't cover, such as co payments, transportation, time off work, prescriptions, etc.

Additionally, The Helmet Harbor (the shop owner and employees are friends and fellow racers at ASMA) is offering raffle tickets for a brand new Jimmy Moore replica helmet (retail is $530, and they have all sizes). Details about the raffle are on the Helmet Harbor site: http://www.helmetharbor.com/racing/jimmy_moore/opening.htm

On a personal note, I can attest to what a genuinely great guy Jimmy is. About 2 years ago in December I was at Arroyo, learning how to ride the track. I was a total green newbie. I was taking Peter Bonner's class (the regular instructor) that day, and Jimmy mentioned how big the improvement was in the student's riding from the morning sessions to the afternoon sessions. I had no idea he was watching us. I was new to the track and had no intention of talking to a pro like him, but he came over and gave me some good words of encouragement. I thought it was cool that a guy like him would come over and talk to a nobody like me.

Every little bit of contribution helps. Racers helping fellow racers is what this is all about.

Thanks.

Do or do not, there is no "try".
