Why do we have to run with cars at VIR?

I'm sure everyone here has read the upcoming schedule for VIR June 28-30. If not you need to take a look at it. We (CCS racers) are sharing a weekend with Grand-AM Cars.  We have to share track time with cars that weekend. I have not missed a race since last year and no one at CCS has told us of this event coming at VIR.  We the racers need some more information if this kind of crap is going to happen.

1. Are the entry fees the same? (even though our track time has decreased because of car practice)
2. Are the gate fees the same?
3. How is tech inspection going to be handled?
4. What about track conditions after the cars (marbles)
5.Cars can really mess up a track for bikes.

Can we get everyone's opinion on sharing a weekend with cars?  I myself call BS.   The same amount of money to CCS, = less track time because we have to share it with cars. Not to mention the absolute clusterfuk that this whole event will probably be.  Hell, we can't even get full races in sometimes now with red flags and time restrictions. OK now we will share that weekend with some cars and that will make it better ???

I think Mr. Elliot is staying away from this thread :-[

The June VIR date has been on the schedule since January, and every earlier release of our schedule stated they were tentative versions.

Entry fees are the same as normal, PLUS, there is no extra charge for Friday's practice sessions. Without Grand-Am we would not have Friday anyway. (Track won't rent it to us, we have asked for two years.)

Gate will be $35 for all three days, $25 for Sat/Sun and $15 for Sunday only.

If you read the schedule, Grand Am gets from 3-5 pm on Friday. (VIR then has all night to clean up after them.) Then they race from 3-6 pm on Saturday. Saturday's Grand-Am qualifying is done at lunch and if any of you were at last years NRRS race (Grand-Am was there too.) you know the VIR staff are great at cleaning up after they finish. The two benefits of having the Grand-Am cars are we actually get another date at VIR (if CCS didn't agree to run with Grand-Am, this date would have become a car only event!), and the extra track time on Friday for no extra charge. Grand-Am gets 2-hours of our normal Saturday afternoon and we get 7 1/2 hours of track time on Friday...in effect we ge more track time with them, not lose track time....seems like a good trade to me.

Cars pit to the Southeast end of the paddock (they use the covered false grids) so our tech inspection and pit access are the same as always. We are the event, they are the add-on, so it is business as usual for us and they get condensed into the time we make for them.

so do we have to sign up for practice on friday at all, or do we just show up with our license, tech, and take to the track....

CCS

Just show up, enter your regular classes and go through tech. (You must be entered in the weekends events, whether it is the Team Challenge or a single sprint class, you are eligible for Friday's practice sessions.)

Fro those who want even more track time, VIR is sponsoring a Thursday practice session also along with Cornerspeed. Contact VIR for more info on the Thursday practice.

I missed the cars last year and I'm looking foward to seeing them this weekend.

I liked the scooters, at least I was faster than them.
