...attending and able to transport an additional bike?  Sorry...just looking (way) ahead!  ;D

joe jackson (the guy who drives that big 18 wheeler) usually goes to daytona and will throw your bike and all your stuff in the back of his truck for like $200.

I would ship the bike and fly there.

NO way, get some friends together and drive out there.  Make the trip there and back as meaningful as the racing itself.  I have contemplated going but I"m not sure I'm crazy enough to ride the RC51 there and the 125 seems like it would get kinda boring trying to get down the loooooooooong straights.

Dumb question #1.  Do you have to have do anything special (top 10 in points, FUSA rider , etc) to race Daytona?   Can any CCS rider race?

Anyone can enter the ROC in October at Daytona. The order of grid position is another matter though.

     Pre-entry order of gridding:
All the #1 points earners (as of a date that will be announced by CCS) from each region that pre-enter are gridded first, in order of entry. For example; If I was 1st in the points for Heavyweight Supersport (HWSS) in my region and I pre-entered before any other 1st place HWSS rider in any other region for the ROC then I would get pole position. The remaining 1st place HWSS riders from thoughout the country that pre-entered would be then gridded after me in the order which they pre-enter. After all the 1st place pre-entered riders have been gridded, they go thru the same process with the 2nd place riders and so on. After all the top 10 pre-entered riders are gridded they then go to the people that pre-entered but weren't in the top 10 in that class in their region. Those people are gridded in order of pre-entry immediately behind the top 10 riders (if positions are still available after all the top 10 riders are gridded- usually there are plenty of positions still available).

(NOTE: it doesn't matter how many races your region has, the position your in overall in a particular class determines grid order for the ROC - not how many points you have as compared to another region!)

     Post entry at the track:
Any positions left open at this point for any class are available for entry at registration - for an increased fee! No matter how you finished in your region people post entering will be gridded in order of post entry at the back of the grid behind the pre-entries.

QuoteExcellent response Mike, Thanks!

One other thing to consider besides making sure to pre-enter ASAP when the Daytona Race of Champions (ROC) mailer comes out is hotel accommodations. This event happens during the later half of the Biketoberfest week, which is getting to be almost as big as Bike Week in the spring. The shear numbers of people at Daytona during that week can make close hotels fill up very quickly. It is worth it to reserve now and possibly cancel later if your not going to go after all, you'll be glad you did it ahead of time cause you will at least have some choices in rooms right now.

I live near Chicago and have been to Daytona for the ROC twice before. The 1st time I went was by myself and it was about a 20 hour drive pulling a trailer. It was cool to see the various States I drove through along the way and I am planning on doing it again this year.

I take it you haven't been there before? There are not too many experiences like being leaned over almost horizontal while doing 170 MPH around the banking at Daytona. The G forces are pushing down on you and your machine so hard that you are constantly hitting your chest and/or helmet on the gas tank, some riders put padding on the tank or inside the front of their leathers to soften this. Your RC-51 would probably be a blast there but you may be right about the 125 not being nearly as enjoyable.

You posted on the old topic! LOL :D That's ok though.

I actually still had the 2002 Daytona ROC mailer laying around so I can give you last years fees.

     1st CCS class = $125

ULGP & HW Sportsman classes = $75 each (due to added purse $)

All additional CCS classes = $50 each

The initial $125 covers your first class entry, 4-day gate pass - which includes Thursday practice ($50 value), and includes your 1st ROC shirt. In case you don't know, you get a ROC shirt for each class you enter, enter 6 classes - get 6 shirts!  8)COOL! 8)

Post entering for races at the ROC is more expensive and is limited by open positions on the grid in each class. You also have to buy the gate pass and you don't get any shirts.
