It is about a MV Augusta with a hydraulic continuously variable "gearbox."  (There are no gears in it.)
The article states that probably only 2 of these bikes were ever made.

In the 80's Husqvarna made an automatic transmission enduro.  I wanted one really bad, kept waiting for one to be available.  My 'friends' talked me out of it.  I think the were afraid they would have been too jealous.
