Hey, anyone have any good ideas on how to get local exposure for roadracing.  No one local will sponsor me, because I can't offer them local, all the people I am meeting/seeing my bike are a pretty good distance away (the closest track is 3 hours away).

I am planning on hitting an import cruise in this weekend and talking to people there, just looking for ideas on how you may have infiltrated your local areas.

thanks,

Show them what you can do for them on a local basis. Bring your bike up for displays. Be sure your bike always looks 110% Get flyers printed that show you and all your sponsors just like the big FUSA teams do kind of an autograph pic. Also get some big photos done to display in their shop.
I found it cost me about 75-80% of what the "deals" were I was getting the first year then it steadily dropped whare for every dollar I spent to "advertise" for them I got 5-6 dollars in product/discount/etc. You leasrn to be smarter about how you spend your money plus you add more sponsors, we even added a printing and photo finishing sponsor that helped get costs way down for our "advertising".
It helps when you finish at or near the front but you don't have to to recieve some help for your racing.
To begin with we only recieved discounts then we started getting some product but we never recieved any cash money but we only ran regional races.

Eric's got the idea.

Additionally, you need to write something after each event.  Call it a press release.  Let your sponsors, current or perspective, know what's going on.

Just like a copy of Road Racing World, they will read it more than once.

You can tell them how you did all you want, but they will remember if they have it in print in front of them.
