Just wondering?  I noticed several people mentioned a "double points" weekend.  How does that work?

Thanks,  Doug

you get twice the points for a given race. For example, you would get 130 points for a win instead of the normal 65.

Not to be confused with "twin sprints" weekend where you get to race the same race twice, once on sat and once on sun, and get normal points (65 for sat and 65 for sunday for a combined 130)

confused yet? ;D

Yea and if you win a bunch of races during 1 double points weekend, you could become an Expert in 1 weekend. ;D

Thanks guys.  Seems simply enough.  Sounds like if you miss a double points race, or a double sprint race, you're out of the running for regional championships.

See you at Roebling and VIR   ;D

That's exactly why CCS does the double points thing.  If they're worried about attendance at a given event, they make it double points to assure that anyone interested in a championship must attend.  Can you say extortion?  See my post on racing in Hawaii for further ranting on this subject...
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Apparently double points are not enough, now its the twin sprints ;) so you pay for it twice per weekend. And no GT races to get some track time and make some money...

And they make all the FAR away events twin sprints, and all the FUSA events double points. Very sound business strategy. I have to drive to roebling (15 hrs one way) twice and Barber to race. I live in freaking New Jersey... it CANT be in my region! Alabama is not mid-atlantic... We can probably see someone with 10,000 points this season, if you count rounds instead of weekends, we have 18 or so point given rounds. Its gonna cost more than twice to win a championship this year. I guess my hope is at Daytona...

See you in Alabama.  I live in Chicago, and apparently it's in my region too.  I'll probably be pitted next to someone from Alaska...
We know we're being screwed.  The only reason most of us stay is because it's where all our friends are.  Personally, I can feel myself being squeezed out.  Four years ago I ran four classes per weekend.  I dropped that to three, and now to two.  I will most likely be doing something different next year.  If CCS drives enough of us away, they will cease to exist.  Perhaps that is their secret plan to become Clearchannel's tax writeoff.

R6 Philly, you dont have to drive the Roebling June 14th and 15 because its not a mid-alantic race this time.  ;D You will in July though. :'( Your drive down to Savannah sucks, about the most I will ever have to drive is 7 hours. BTW Im in Myrtle beach and the Harleys are now leaving, the  Biker boyz and booty will be starting to roll in. Looks like off and on rain for several days then it should clear up for the week end. I have never seen so many dirtbags on Harleys this past week, is so funny to see all those dummys on over priced, slow Harleys. On a sad note 7 were killed in accidents this year, which is a record # killed.  :'( Hope the bikerboyz stay safe this coming week. ;D

Its a shame I can't go join the bikerboyz this year. First time in 5 years that I am not going. now I am gonna have a problem getting pics for the site. I usually have over 1000 each year, I don't know what to do... take some pics for me will ya ;)

Roebling is fun, but too damn far. Especially I can't take Friday off, so have to drive all night to make it there by 9am. And its twin sprints too  >:( if it is a normal schedule I can just run my sprints later in teh day and on Sunday, but now I gotta be there before lunch to race...

I was feeling bad about driving 5-1/2 hours to Jennings and maybe even entertaining the idea of going to Roebling, which should be about 8 hours or so.  Decided that the money and distance will keep me away from Roebling probably.  Then I see that you all drive farther than me, and it's not even in my region...lol.  Actually, if it wasn't for Henry, it would be, as would VIR, etc cuz I'd be SE.  Thank goodness for the FL region! :)
