Camping at the Track

I was wondering if there's anything CCS can do to allow camping at tracks by racers and their crews that don't normally allow it. LVMS and Firebird Raceway spring to mind.

For example, the AFM won't utilize a track unless they allow camping and the tracks will usually capitulate to get the event.

...Just trying to squeeze a few more races into my budget by eliminating hotel fees. :)

Probably not. It is up to the track to allow camping. There are local laws about camping, the tracks may not want to have to comply or the local municipality may not allow the track to have camping. In my town yopu need to get approval from the town board for public camping.

Someone's theory in another forum was that LVMS would never allow it 'cause it's owned by Casino owner's who want you to stay in their hotel. I dunno. Anyway, we'll see how the AFM fares.

Well, the AFM will get to camp at LVMS ($10 per vehicle - not per head) so, can CCS get the same deal?

SlowDragon

Given that this is only a month away has anyone contacted the track to see what they will allow?  AFM has definitely secured camping at the track for the September race.

YUP...while you guys where writing about it, I spoke with Dave Steinsomethingorother at LVMS.

He said that it wasn't JUST the tracks' policy at all.  It has to do with a contractual agreement between them and CCS.  It is CCS that needs to be discussing this with LVMS to try and get us camping privledges.

Apparently, AFM has the camping clause in their contract, where CCS does not.

Hi Dave

Are you going to ask CCS the question  ;D

Decreasing_Dave

I don't think it will matter.

They made the deal with LVMS, why would they bother to change it.

It would mean that they would have to pay security to stay all night.  That cost money.

However...originally, they never expected the SW and PAC regions to be doing so well this year.  Maybe they will reconsider if I ask nicely ;D

Decreasing_Dave

OK...I just got off the phone with Tiffiney...who in turn asked Kevin about camping at LVMS.  This is what I got.

The original contract (at the beginning of the year) was signed with a guy named "Craig".  Craig stipulated that there would be NO camping allowed.  This is in the contract, the contract was signed by both parties and put to bed.

In order to change that, a renegotiation would have to take place.  This would take too much time, as I was told.  I do agree, contracts are what they are for a reason.

I did ask Tiff if they could consider camping for next year.  I get the impression that 'til now, they just blew it off without a care.  I asked that it be considered, even if it had a minimal cost to us in order to differ the cost to them.  I suggested some rules should be in effect, i.e. quiet times, campfires, etc...  She said that it would be something that they will consider.  I believe her and look forward to camping and saving money next year.

Until then, Lost Wages hotels will be a large hole in my wallet. :-/

Wow, thanks Dave!!!!
I really appreciate the effort and the info!

SlowDragon

Yes, thanks for doing the research Dave. There is an RV camp at the Circus Circus hotel if you want to camp downtown.
