Reprocussions for negligence?

Does CCS take any action against negligence (ie suspension, etc)? I am curious about the incident at Summit where a racer did not wire the oil drain plug and dumped oil on the track causing multiple other riders to crash.

11.2 FINES AND SUSPENSIONS - The following offenses are subject to fines or suspensions
as called for in Section 12.1:

11.2.1 Abetting or knowingly engaging in any meet in which the result is prearranged.

11.2.2 Directly or indirectly, offering or accepting, any form of bribe or compensation
to or from any person participating in the meet, with a purpose to pre-arrange the
outcome of the competition.

11.2.3 Attempting to circumvent the rules by competing on a motorcycle other than
the one entered in the meet. Permission to change motorcycle must be obtained
from the Referee.

11.2.4 Attempting to circumvent the rules by competing on a machine not complying
with Section 5-Equipment Standards is subject to fines of not less than $500.00
and/or suspension at the discretion of the Referee/Race Director.

11.2.5 Failure to return rented Electronic Scoring Unit at the conclusion of an event.
Failure to return ESU will result in a fine equal to the replacement cost plus shipping.
A. In the event a rented ESU is lost due to a crash at an event, the rider will only
be charged for exact replacement cost as long as the rider notifies the Race
Director or Referee before leaving the facility.


Section 5 includes:
5.2.13 All oil, fuel, and coolant carrying hoses or lines must be secured at all
connecting points by clips, clamps, safety wire, or other approved means.



It was the fill plug found on the track.  Apparently they swapped motors on that bike involved and what I heard was that nothing on the motor was wired.  I think a rule worth adding would be requiring re-teching after an engine swap or a significant rebuild after a crash.  Any bike that smoked significantly enough to warrant being flagged off would also be subject to re-teching, espcially if there is oil in the bellypan (like the one that we finally got pulled off in my turn on Monday).  Race control would have to make note of those bikes requiring re-tech, pass the info to tech who would notify the rider and remove their tech sticker.

I thought you were required to re-tech after a crash as well.

The rider and crew in question did have this addressed by the referee at the event. Based on that conversation and actions taken we do not believe this will be a problem again.
Our policy is that penalties are between ASRA/CCS and the rider in question.

and there is a big difference in "... attempting to circumvent the rules..." and just being plain dumb and/or forgetful. Stupid sucks, and often affects others, but is not the same as negligent or outright decietfulness. (sp??)

Actually negligence IS being stupid. The definition is doing something other than what a prudent person would do, weather or not it was intentional is not a factor.

sorry for the context confusion, but there is stupid in attempting to break the rules, KNOWING you are doing wrong (.. that would be negligent). Then there is stupid ie: ignorant, as in NOT knowing you were breaking a rule. Is that person stupid ? perhaps.. but you could make an argument you could be stupid in either case not just one.
