Just heard about the new transponders. They sound great except the mounting on the right fork and issues activating through carbon fiber. I run an F1 sidecar and the only things not covered by carbon fiber on the right side are the exhaust opening, the rear wheel and the right side of my helmet (slightly better than the left side where there is only the left side of my helmet).  None of those sound like very promising locations to mount the transponder!  :banghead: Does the official at the entrance to the hot pit have the ability to activate with a hand-held instrument? If not we will probably have walk over to the activation equipment 5 minutes before we go out to activate it and then install it under our fairing before leaving our pits.  Hopefully the trackside receiver does not have a similar issue (we are going to look silly stopping on the front straight every lap to jump out and wave our transponder  :lmao: ). I guess we could drill 6 holes in the bodywork and zip tie it on the outside of the body (I don't like drilling holes in a $5000 fairing with a $1500 paint job  :whine: )

Chris I'll be at NJMP and I'm voting monkey fire drill at start finish.
;)

Plan is to use the rechargeable yellow bricks that we have used with the side cars in the past so there will be no activation issue.

Sounds like a plan Eric. See you at NJMP. And to answer Burt Sidecars will be at the following 2012 CCS rounds:
NJMP May 4-5
NHMS June 15-17
Summit Aug 25-26

Well how could there be two number 1's? It'd be number 11 then?

$80+- each if not mistaken

Thanks Melk! Do you know if there is a stand alone transponder receiver to see lap times on lets say a non-ccs trackday?
