Hotels near HPT?

There is a decent/fairly new Super 8 1/2 mile down the road from the track on Topeka Blvd (Forbes Field area).  West Topeka near Wanamaker Rd retail area has every hotel and restaurant chain known to man (15 minutes).

Avoid all other South Topeka Blvd hotels and motels other than the mentioned Super 8...

Pricing $60 - 120 depending on chains

How does the tent camping work there? I looked on the website but it seems geared towards the NHRA crowd. Do you camp in the campground area or can you just set up in the paddock area?

Paddock works... just bring a low profile tent and have an escape plan... it will be windy as shit and will storm at some point!
