This poll in on Fox news in response to the tragic misfortune of Peter Lenz on Sunday. They are asking if children should be allowed to participate in high speed extreme sports...

Children should only be allowed to eat junk food and play video games in a climate controlled living room.  We must preserve them and prepare them for adulthood!

Seriously.  I drive all day in my job with a municipality.  On the first day of school, the kid population in the town where I work went from five or six to thousands.  Where the hell were all those kids all summer?  They must just stay indoors until they're old enough to drive...

A dirtbike was the tool my parents used to control me when I was young.  Break the rules, no riding.  They had me by the short hairs.  No chore was too great and no trouble was tempting enough to cost me seat time!  Well, mostly...  I have good parents.
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Im with you Chris...  I lived the same childhood, only with an ATV and 30 acres of sweet terrain..

If everyone was caged until they were 18 would we have Valentino, Spies, Hayden, Pedrosa, Edwards, Lorezo, Farrell, Ortega, Hall, Jordan, Gretzky, Ruth, Armstrong, Woods, Ono, Phelps, Farve, Sanders, Bryant, Chamberlain, Manning, Peyton, Shumacher, Mantle, etc..............

I to grew up with a race quad and nothing but open fields.... My kids are 7 and 4 years old and they do not live in a bubble nor will they ever... My 7 year old son rides an electric sport bike that does 30 mph max.... yeah he falls down and gets banged up but he is determined to get up and do it again. Part of being a kid is falling down, getting hurt, getting up, and doing it again... if your not making mistakes your not learning.

My husband was riding a motor bike when he was like 3 from what his mother and sisters say. He never had training wheels on his bicycles either.

Jason Farrell has a trophy in his shop from 1983......... that made him 6 years old at the time of that win. How old do you think he was the first time he got on a Motorized machine?

Peter Lenz fell down, he got up. he unfortunately was caught in traffic when he got up and was hit by another racer. This was a tragic accident that could have happened to anybody at any age. Peter nor his family did nothing wrong.... they simply let their son live his life, sadly his life ended doing what he loved.

The reason you don't see kids around in the summer is because a major percent of them are so overweight
they'd drop over from exhaustion long before the summer heat got to them.

What's ironic is that a lot of their parents are working out, running, playing softball, etc.  I can't explain it...

Peter's death is tragic and I'm not making light of it at all.

what about dieng on the football field, while swimming ,surfing, skateboarding, zigzaging in traffic on a bicycle, jumping into rivers, doing every cheap drug there is to get high( freon, glue) shooting each other and on and on.    i wonder sometimes how i survived the teenage years  but that's ok i did.  oh and driving like a maniac at 16  gets a bunch too

I never had access to guns as a kid and surfing isn't so tempting in Lake Michigan...

I voted yes a week or two ago.  My girlfriend's parents saw this on the news, and expressed their fear for the kids who do what we do.  I tried very hard to explain to them how experienced Peter was, and how big  of a fluke this accident was, but I didn't really make a dent in their view.

I feel completely heartbroken for the Lenz's and all of their friends and family for losing Peter.  More prayers sent.
