hey guys, so i happened to get sponsored by a local paint shop called Creative Custom Airbrush, and they did an AWESOME job on my bike...but with the disign we kinda had some nice details in the number plate areas...i was wondering if i could get by with using white numbers with no background instead of doing the white background and black numbers??? i would of course make them nice and bold enough to be easily seen , which to my knowlage is really the main point here...but just wanted to post up...was gunna try it out bring both background decals w/ black numbers and the white numbers, head to tech early with the white numbers on and if they say no just change it quick and go back...but figured id utalize the forums as well to see.....

if it make any differance i am in the mid-west region....

I'd bet they're going to make you have the white background with the black numbers...

The rulebook clearly states the size, font, and color of acceptable numbers.  Its important to your safety that you comply with the standard.  It also makes the job of our cornerworkers and scoring much more difficult if you don't comply.  If your bike doesn't comply to the technical standards as specified in the rulebook don't go to tech.   You'll end up in a pissing match with the inspector, and wasting everyones time that is staged behind you in line.

Thank you.  :thumb:   I wish more people would realize the impact on others when they decide to 'just see if it will fly.'

Kind of like when people bring their bike to Tech and the bellypan is still completely attached..... with screws....... put on with an air wrench....... and Loctite.   :kicknuts:

Sometimes I've gotten in the habit of 'subtly' making sure everyone in the back of the line are aware why things aren't moving faster.  This is especially effective when people are standing in the rain to get their bike Tech'd.

Very nice paintjob.   :thumb:   I bet it would do well in a custom bike show.

As far as the white numbers passing Tech.........  do yourself and everybody else a favor  - don't even try it.  You'd have about as much chance leaving with a Tech sticker as if you brought your bike through Tech without an engine.

no if i go im not gunna fight it ill just change it, but i know with rear numbers on some bikes they let u go with one centered on ther rear and numbers on the side....didnt check if it was added yet but i know it wasnt in there and they just asked for you to put the numbers on the farrings on the side! not trying to make my way ok or anything just if i make it so they can be clearly seen and all if it would be a big deal...but ill figure something out!!! :)

yeah id just roll in and ask on those right away if i did do it, they say no ill immediately roll out and fix it, i know they have a job to do and i know there are umpteen million others that have to get through and i hate waiting in line just as much as the next person (maybe even more...im in the military!! HAHAHAHAHA) so that is definitely not my intent but yeah like i said ill see what i can do to hopefully not cover up too much and stay with in the regs....

Charles,

Will Blackhawk be your 1st race of the year or are you going to try and make it to Topeka?

Dori, here is a big hint for you "Burt" would be one of your tech inspectors. Black numbers on
white background and not black numbers with white border of each number either. The background should be a regular shape, square, circle, rectangle etc
