r6 throttle abruptness

I've seen toggle switches that are more forgiving that the "off-on" throttle transition of my R6.  This really makes getting the power down early difficult.  I was wondering if anyone out there has any tips to at least improve this condition.  The motor is stock on my 01 besides the pipe and jetting.  I'm not the one who jetted the bike so I don't know if that is part of my problem or not.

I haven't had any such problems with my '99. What gearing are you running? Have you had it dynoed for correct jetting?

The '99 that I prepared for a friend a few years ago was greatly improved by the installation of larger pilot jets and careful adjustment of the idle mixture screws. A Factory Pro race kit addressed the remainder of the operating range.

If you have a Hindle pipe that could also be a problem.  It is a very hard pipe to jet correctly.  You would benefit greatly if you just get the bike Dynoed.  Only takes one run to see how far your jetting is out.  It will also tell you if it is just a needle setting, air fuel mixture or a main jet.

Interesting info. about the Hindle.  When I jetted my bike w/ a full Hindle system, I had little to no problems w/ fine tuning.  It pulled 102.7 hp on an Eddy current dyno and I've only had to go back into the carbs once.

I wouldn't say my throttle response is jerky going from off to on...I think what the guys said about the pilot jets and screws are on the right track.  Also, I don't know if it makes much of a difference, but I have emulsion tube shrouds that particulate the gas at high rpms, thus making the topend power curve smooth...that might help.  Sorry, I'm pulling straws over her  ;)

Er, just to state the obvious - Are your throttle cables and chain slack properly adjusted?

I have the same porblem with my 01 R6.  I have a DynoJet kit and a Leo Vince pipe.  I'm putting out 104.2 on the dyno with a fairly smooth powerband.  My cables are as tight as can be, but its still choppy off and on.  Its not so bad when I'm up in the powerband, though.  My bike is tuned for the track and that makes it a little bit of a b!tch cruising down low in the rpm's...

Take off all that stupid EPA stuff that makes the bike breath hard but keeps the intake nose level down.  The feds are not ridding the thing now.  On the RC51 this is known as a flapper valve,or intake restrictor.  Loose it!  Just my two bits. ::)
