Camping at Homestead?

I know it says no on the Homestead Schedule, but I thought I've heard you can. I'd rather do that than get a hotel room. Sorry if this has already been discussed but I couldn't find anything...

yeah, you have to be there real early to cause they close the gate out by the road.  They used to have the gate by the road open until 9pm now it's like 6pm.  Sucks too, cause now I can't get there in time and have to get a $75 room.

That sucks about the gate time. I might consider leaving early Sat. morning then. Is the camping area just like an open grass lot or something? I assume they have bathrooms...
