I'm really curious how many Buells will be on the grids next year, with the current status of the Buell factory.

I know of a few guys who picked one or two up cheap and plan on racing them next year.

Would love to be out there regardless, but I made the decision before all this that I needed to be out.  Sucks about Buell.  Sucks for Erik, Terry, Henry, all of those good people.

I guess I'm going to part out now.

We are looking for sponsorship to continue AMA Moto-GT, perhaps even a run in the Daytona 200. If that doesn't happen, then we'll likely be back for some CCS fun! Sounds like most of Blackhawk's Buell Alley will be back next season.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOOOHOOO! What a freaken ride"

n order to run AMA don't they have to be homolgated? In order to be homolgated don't they have to make so many motor sickles a year? With Buell not making anymore how are they going to run in MotoGT? I think it is the same way for CCS SS.

From the AMA Pro Racing road racing rule book...

1.2 Homologation of Motorcycles
a. Only motorcycles homologated by AMA Pro Racing may be used
in AMA Pro Racing-sanctioned road racing competition.
b. Homologation procedure information and applications are
available from the AMA Pro Racing office.
c. AMA Pro Racing will only review applications for homologation
from motorcycle manufacturers or their distributors.
d. Once a motorcycle has been approved, it may be used until such
time that the homologated motorcycle no longer complies with the
technical rules.

Since the 1125R is already homologated (and readily available), I assume (d.) applies.

The biggest issue for us is the loss of Buell contingency and excellent tech/parts support. Contingency we could perhaps make up with sponsorship. And we're stocking up on the parts we think we'll need.

I'm pretty sure you'll see Buells raced in the AMA next season, and in CCS for years to come.

Yeah, I think the real sticking point might be that the AMA process requires the contingency package each year, as per my understanding.  Once the bike is in, it's not a problem, as long as there is contingency.  But this is year two under Roger's new program, so I think he really has a decision to make to help those loyal Buell racers get their affairs in order.  You have a call in to Roger, Paul?
