G.M.D. changed my springs and valves etc. in my front forks. Anyone else with these bikes have any suggestions on what to do next... Looking for any input. I have talked to Eric from computrack. Want to see what others riding these have to say.

Thanks

Get a good steering damper if you don't already have one.  These bikes are super handling but can be also unstable when pushed hard.  aftermarket Shock.  The Ak20s are popular but I'd go with the new Ohlin 25mm cartridges.  I've currently got an 05 which handles superbly and am setting up an 09.

I don't have a steering damper yet. Just can't afford one right now. My current plan, as Eric Gray reccomends, is to at least change the internals in the rear shock if not replace the whole shock with a TTX. Then comes the chassis setup. I don't plan on doing all of that now as I don't have enough money, but as I get smoother and faster on the bike, it will eventually be done. I wish i could afford those ohlins fork internals. Damn. The correct spring and revalving have done me well for now.

Mark, lol. Go for it. I call some seat time on the FZR.

Just keep working with Eric and if you have any problems with set up or somthing going on at the track let him know.I race 06 R6 and a 08 R6 and like them both.Even though they are Yamahas they are to different bikes for sure.

What tire are you running, size?

DEVINC

Brad,
I use Pirelli DOT 180. I might use Michelin next year. Mostly to save a few bucks and I hear they are great anyways. Eric is very knowledgable and extremely good at what he does. It just seems very expensive in general for the services and parts. I wouln't really know though, as this is my "first rodeo".

If you don't mind me asking, what have you done with suspension/chassis work on your '06 R6? What were some major needed changes/setups in your opinion?

Eric Grey   GMD Computrack does all my suspension , set up, and chassis work on my bike's.You are more than welcome to call him and ask.

Have Eric do a measurement on your bike and a optimization. Then at the track he will work with you on set up and get you in the right direction.Alot of this really depends on your lap times you are running.Plus Eric is at all the Florida rounds and working with him will greatly reduce your lap times.Pay for the optimization then he will do all your clickers in such for free at the track and will learn you as a rider. Then he can help you improve and help you with the problems you are having.Establishing a relationship with a  suspension tuner is priceless.

I didnt like the pirelli tires when i tried them....just moved around to much for me.But there are fast riders on all brands so try them all.

But for the price, performance, wear, and contingency...You cant beat the MICHELINS!!!!!!!!!

Michelin almost paid for my racing this year... if i was just a little faster it would have...Almost.

DEVINC

Thanks a ton for the advice Brad. It's good to hear backup from an experienced and fast rider about this. I am all for Eric at GMD. It kind of seals the deal to hear other people telling me the same sort of things that he tells me. Yes, I really want to use the Michelins. I will most likely use them for next season. I don't want to get off of the Pirelli's before homestead only because they are what I am used to. Those Michelins really might help me out financially next year in MWSS. I'm hoping for some top 5 finishes........ hoping really bad. And working as hard as my bank acct. will allow.  :thumb:

Stick with 1 suspension guy and 1 tire brand and by the end of the season you will be twice as fast as you are now.Dont base you outcomes on 1 race weekend but the overall of the season results, things just take time.As you get faster things become even harder.Really try to pay attention to what the bike is doing when going around the track, this will go along way for your suspension tuner thats helping you...or they have to go buy data they have based on other riders and take a educated guess i whats happening to you..tires tell a big story to.

If you see me and have questions come by and say hi.

DEVINC

Much appreciated Brad and thanks for the input also, SV88.
