I dont know if this is in the right section for posting, but here goes.

I posted a thread a while back about sponsors. I have taken everyones advice and will move forward without sponsors, but this will not keep me from continuing my effort to obtain sponsorship. How does everyone feel about posting a listing of all of their sponsors with contact info? I wouldnt think that sponsors would mind for the simple fact that it is giving them more exposure. So if you and our sponsor are willing to put them selves out there then post your sponsor and contact info here.

WARNING--- I WILL BE CONTACTING THE SPONSORS POSTED HERE.

At this level most of the sponsorship comes from the Contingency awards that CCS has in place that everyone is eligible to receive for using that companies products......

http://ccsracing.us/sponsors.html

The exception to this generally is arrangements that individual riders have with their local bike dealerships and body shops that they have developed a close relationship with.  Beyond this you may see some Experts who endorse certain brands of helmets in exchange for deals on helmets.

There are exceptions out there of course.....  but generally, outside of the CCS Contingency program, any sponsors people have picked up are based off of personal relationships that riders have developed with their sponsors.

how much is she?

Nevermind that! If you need sponsor support you can't afford her.

Cycle Gear will also sponsor racers by giving a percentage off their products.

The best sponsor I know is the guy that I see reflected in the mirror every morning while I am shaving.   I don't seem to need contact details - everywhere I am, I find me there...

I guess that it just never ceases to amaze me that people who have never raced expect to be able to convince businesses to invest cash into their first year efforts.

Mr. F3racer - I know you had another post up lookin for advice and I am pretty sure this was echoed there, but, the reality of this sport is that it is very expensive and you can not expect anybody but yourself to pay the bills.  If you are fast enough to place top 5 you should be able to win some product contingency and defray a bit of the cost, but that will barely scratch the surface and you are not going to turn a profit nor will it cover anywhere near what you will spend.  One further thought - as you plan your expenses, don't rely on the money you think you will win from contingency sponsors, you may not actually win those races and as a result may not get paid the contingency.

Good luck - but this is reality.

I don't think you're going to get anyone to do your work for you.

Put together a nice sponsorship proposal. Use the guidelines they talk about in the RRW article about getting sponsorship, then send it out to gear and equipment manufacturers, and local businesses, dealerships, etc. Go to the websites of all the companies of stuff you like and use, and get the contact info there - some of them even have areas on their sites specific to sponsorship/racer discount info.

Chances are pretty good you'll at least get some discounts on equipment, parts, gear, etc.

did that already. ive sent this thing out to everyone i can think of. the us army, bikes shops, body shops, you name it ive emailed or mailed it. ive been hung up on more times than i can count. im still hacking at it though. im not asking people to do my work for me. im just asking for the same help alot of you wished for when you started in this business. ive gotten a couple bites so far. of course as some of you know the more sponsors you have the more you'll get.

So let me ask this from the Sponsor perspective. If I put out my $250 per weekend to you instead of advertising in the local race flyer, what will you do for me? What could you possibly offer me that is more effective than running an ad?

Just questions of thought.

i think of all of this as a rolling advertisment. will a 250 dollar ad give you as much exposure as placing your name on a daily driven vehicle or trailer that has the potential of 1000 people seeing it every hour? then i will name you as a sponsor on the webpage i am building.

look, i am on here for advice. the advice you give will be taken seriously. but i will not give up. i will keep trying until i reach the goal i desire. i will do what i have to do without a sponsor and keep trying to gain sponsorship from who ever i can. no matter the advice given i thank you for it.
