Hey guys and gals,

I'm interested in getting comprehensive (theft, vandalism, acts of God) coverage on my race-only bike.

It's quite an expensive peice of metal to have uninsured... and if somebody were to break in to my garage and walk off with it, I'd be out of luck.

I did a search on this forum and came up with ACE Insurance in Alabama - but from a 5 year old post... a lot has changed since then.

Anybody else have comprehensive nsurance on thier race bike?  Point me in the correct direction.

Bike has an MSO (manufacturers certificate of origin), bill of sale - but nobody has submitted the MSO for a DMV title.

Murf,

I'm in the same boat.  I checked with my insurance agent (State Farm) and they told me that they could not insure the bike for just theft, etc....that it was a "all or nothing" type of deal.  I would also be very interested in getting info on this type of insurance for my bike.

Thanks for the post....I am hoping someone knows of a place.

I insured mine when I bought it... just as I would a street bike, cuz thats what it was when I bought it.  Kept full coverage on it ever since... Ive insured every bike Ive owned with state farm.  I think I pay in the neighborhood if $25 a month... give or take

I checked recently with Progressive for similar coverage, and it was the same story.  They said that they had to include liability with any motorcycle policy they wrote, regardless of whether or not the bike was registered for street use.  They told me that they were unaware of any company that would provide only comprehensive coverage on motorcycles.  If you find anything, though, please let me know.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe that if the bike is in your garage and it gets stolen then it should be covered under your home owners policy.  That being said it dosen't do much for you if it is stolen from a trailer or at the track.  I also have only been wrong once in my life so this might be the second time  ::)

I'vd had 3 different home insurance company's over the years and moves. None would cover a vehicle that COULD be used on the hyway, even if you made it so it can't, still no joy.

Yep! If it has a vin number and can be registered it does not get covered by home owners. Even if it's not registered....disassembled......in your garage.......and the garage burns.........NOT covered!

The solution is obvious, race a real race bike.

Brian, I've looked into this too and I don't think they'll cover even your bike. State Farm told me if it was a vehicle they would not cover it unless you did it like stated above, liability as though driven on the highway.
