My 2008 Cougar fifth wheel came with this brand of tire. After 5000 miles the tread is coming off and they don't want to stand behind them. Has anyone else had this problem? I even had one blow out and ripped the wiring out for my slide on the camper.

Duro does not have the best reputation. Tread separations seem common.

Note that ALL ST trailer tires except the Cooper Custom Trailer Plus (expensive and difficult to find) are rated for a maximum speed of 65 mph. Not saying you drove your trailer fast, but I think most trailer users are not fully aware of the limitations of trailer tires.

Scroll down to speed, time and mileage.

with the max speed its rated for is what it can take for a long period of time thats not saying that cant handle going faster most race bike tires are only rated for 120mph but as you may know most bikes on the track are going for over 120 it may not be same for trailer tires

How many miles do you use a tire for racing?

Exceeding the speed rating will not cause the tire to spontaneously explode, but will shorten the life of the tire. Speed will cause the tire to heat, too much heat is the problem. As the link states, the life of trailer tires is quite short (3 to 5 years), probably shorter than most people realize.

Just giving a possible explanation for the short life and relatively common blowouts/tread separations seen with trailer tires.

Made enough noise and they have three tire being sent out to me. I have replaced all 4 tire with a different brand for my Fifth wheel. Now time to get in to get the wiring replaced for the slide. Fun times
