(Homer Simpson voice)....Mmmmm, yellow. I like yellow. ;D

OlDirtyBrian

Nice. Did you have it professionally done?

Nate R

Wow, that makes me feel good  :D

Nope, did it all myself, which is evident when you're closer.

Like, I didnt sand down the bondo well enough when I filled in these tank dents:

But, it came out well, I think.

Paint job is spray paint, (rattle can; New Holland Yellow)  and you can tell that if you look closely.

Looks good Nate,  did you use a rattle can or a sprayer?  I painted mine with a rattle can and got lazy...  There are a few runs and I never clear coated it. I figure after the season, I'll sand it all down and do it right.  Any pointers would be appreciated.

Nate R

Rattle can only, and then rattle can clear coat.

First attempt at that ever, so I had a few screw-ups. Don't mess with runs and such until after they dry. That's my advice. Take your time with prep. I didnt have the time to take for the prep, and that shows now.

I'm curious as I'll be doing this soon.
When you say 'prep'  what exactly do you mean?

I'm getting new Sharkskinz, soon, but I think they come 'ready to paint'?

Thanx jen. And thanx again for the help with the painting, brakes, and other things you helped out with.

I may have a thread of suggestions for nicknames for the SV. I don't like lemon That much.  :P

Painting:

You need to scuff up the surface of the skins. I used 400 grit and wet sanded.

Prime the tank, and strip the old paint IF you have the time.

Ideally, you should also sand lightly between coats. I had some texture probs. I used a glossy paint, and some of it was glossy, some of it got orange-peely.

I clear-coated it, and may buff it, and for sure will wax it all yet.
