Spies, Mladin, DiSalvo, Hacking, Bostrom, Hodgson, DuHamel, Hayden, Hayden.  I count nine.

Riders come and go, and some you list are getting close to 'retirement'.

I agree with Jeff, probably 12 riders, maybe as many as 15 if all the MFs run teams of 3 bikes.

Do or do not, there is no "try".

And if Yamaha sticks with their plan of running DMG in 2009 how many does that leave?

We'll see. If the honcho meeting gets held at Indy, this whole fight could change on a dime.

I would not want to be running a privateer team going into 2009.

I think you'd have 45 riders if all MF's ran three riders.

5 manufacturers (Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and Ducati) x 3 riders is 15 per class. Not exciting unless all are dead stock equal.

I would!  DMG will run.  I have no doubt whatsoever in that, and THAT is where I'd want to be as a privateer team.  I've never really weighed in on the DMG/AMA disputes, but honestly I think it's a great thing for everyone EXCEPT those 8 or 9 that Dave listed off...

Controlling the series so tightly should increase competition immensely.  Controlling the sources may also cut costs.  How can this be bad for the majority of the paddock?

How can closer/tighter racing lead to a WORSE show?
