Super Dave

Did you use it with the Mycron transmitter?

I've had some problems with my Mycron.  Seems to be shot, so this looked like the way to go for me.  I've bench tested it here.  I'll know more on April 3rd.

I have an XT... first used it at Putnam last October.  Missed a lot of laps (others had the same problem) but I'm waiting to see if it was due to beacon placement/unit placement or the battery it came with.  It's definitely a user-friendly unit, I hope we can get it "dialed in".
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

The XT lap timers are the business for sure. The only time I have had a problem was when my receiver was not angled appropriately to get a signal.

I angled it down a bit more and never missed a lap the rest of the day. The XT turns on automatically!!!!

And at all the NESBA events I have my transmitter beacon set up so no one has to worry about a thing.

Well   Im in need of a lap timer.  the ones i saw at that last nesba event were microns.   (well the few peeps i talked to and look closely at theier bikes.)

Im a nesba member, and would get the xt through mdr most likely.  just trying to decide if i should wait  to the first nesba ebent at blackhakw and see how they work ??  or order one now and try it out at nesba at blackhawk.

im a newb at this and well i was curious what my lap times were at the last track day, i know i could have gone faster, so not so sure i want one yet.     I know im going slow,  i dont need a 200$ timer to tell me that. ??  right ???  And if i do get one, im getting the cable to dnload to a computer so i can track my time easier.

And i saw a post from a tz250 racer that had really ad things to say about the xt timer .

2 mow weeks to my first race...

I had the same problem with my XT timer missing laps until I put my own transmitter out by the guard rail and connected it to an external 12v battery. The mychron transmitter that was already out there was using an internal battery which didn't put out a very strong signal. After I set mine out I didn't miss another lap all day! I really like the unit. Easy to use and extremely programmable and the download cable works well. The 12V battery puts out a much stronger signal and will work even if the receiver isn't pointed directly at it (ie leaning around a corner)

I got an XT lap timer mid-season last year. One of my teammates was using a micron, so I had a chance to check his out before deciding on my purchase. I'm glad I did!

I have not had any problems that were directly related to the XT. That is to say, I have missed lap times, but it was due to the location of the receiver on the bike. Once I tweaked it, it worked great.

I will add one bit of advice: If you are going to experience a long period of non-racing (God forbit!)  ;D, especially during the off season, I'd suggest pulling the batteries out. Apparently the unit draws enough current to drain them down over a 3 months. Although you don't lose any lap times stored, you will have to reprogram basic info. At the very minimum, start with a fresh set of batteries each season, with a replacement schedule mid-season.

Other than that I have no complaints about the XT..."unfornately" it is quite accurate and now I KNOW I am slow!  ;D
