Mid 80's all weekend, no rain, totally incredible! Track conditions were great, not too many red flags, etc. Twin sprint format keeps ya hoppin let me tell you. Can not wait to go back.

Your positivity amazes me.

I watched you get center-punched going into 6. I also watched how you handled yourself afterwards - very calmly and admirably - when it was unquestionable that you were the victim of a preventable incident.

I also watched you circulating within the top five later the same day - putting the earlier incident behind you. That was very good to see.

Then you make this post reflecting on positive aspects of the weekend.

What a rare find ...

I looked for you at the end of the day to tell you this in person, but you were tied up on business. I hope your kind crew member (I apologize for forgetting his name) passed along my regards.

Nice to see you - stay after it.

Couldn't agree more! What a facility! And the Museum brought back sooooo many childhood memories, makes you fall in love with bikes all over again!

Thanks Griff, and yes, Ian mentioned you came by to say hello. Very sorry I was not available to shake hands and thank you personally for another fun filled weekend. I am lucky to be able to race as a hobby, some ride for a living so it allows me to have keep a good outlook whenever possible. I was not thrilled that an "expert" rider would make such a banzai move, totally out of control and if golf is a game of inches.. so is motorcycle racing. He nearly missed me but I was the one finding myself sliding on the ground having had the turn already mostly completed. Oh well. He and his bike were alot more banged up than me, and i have had it the other way before. Each day I woke up saying "holy moly this weather is incredible" and made for a great start to the day. See you at VIR!

Couldn't agree more, I saw that incident as well.  Actually, I have pictures of the aftermath.  Anyway, more importantly as a new amateur I appreciate Melka's consideration for us slower guys.  He passed me several times praticing on Friday in some of the tight corners but never once did it unsafely and or never took my  line away unlike most of the other fast experts.  Class act all the way!

thanks Dude, appreciate that riders notice that. Being eligible for the "Formula 40" class, have a bit more appreciation for what we do...club race. Wisdom is a word that comes to mind as well. I wish i were younger and had a pile of money to not worry about crashing and try to go as fast a possible, but crashing can sometimes involve other riders. At the top of the list of "having a bad weekend" is not just crashing, but taking someone else out and having that rider get hurt. SO.. Especially in practice, i "try" to give riders a tad more room on passing.
THis being said, don't look at the faster riders in a bad light. Some of them are trying to earn enough contingency money to make the next race. That extra second or 2 per lap week in/week out can mean the difference of a profitable year, or having to pack it in. Just be aware out there, and know that even the super fast dudes really do not want to crash.
