Hello everyone.  I had hoped I would never have had to post this type of thing.  My mountain bike was stolen at MAM late in the afternoon on Saturday.  It was a KLIEN Attitude Race.  It was a very nice bike and I understand why someone would want it, but this sucks.  THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ANY OF US!!!  We all leave our things unattended from time to time and we all go to sleep at night and leave somethings outside because we are not theives.   I think it was one of the trackday folks or an outsider that security at MAM just let come in and look around at all of our stuff.

I know i will never get my bike back but maybe from this can come something good.  Maybe together we can reduce the chance of this happening by forcing the tracks to tighten up security.  Just letting anybody roll through that gates into the paddock will continue to allow this to happen.  They we having a flea market over in the drag race parking lot this weekend, maybe some folks thought it would be great to head over and look at some race bikes...  Hmm, nice generator, bike, helmet, etc....  Or hell, kidnapping maybe the next thing that happens...  All weekend long we had kids coming over to our paddock on their scooters and petting our dog, what stops them from getting snatched.  NOTHING.

I think some changes are nessesary.

Sorry to hear that Dustin, that is NOT a cheapo piece of crap Walmart bike.  When Megan stopped by to see if we were playing a joke on you, I thought for sure someone probably just had hidden it in the bathroom or something.  Sorry to hear someone actually stole the thing.  That sucks man.

Damn...that sux hard.  But thanks for posting up.  It gives me a little different perspective on how I regard my property in the paddock.  You start to build and "extended family" almost from the friends and regulars you see at the track which can often build a false sense of security.  Not that I think it was any of us as you said, but that false sense of security leads to vulnerability from the outsiders and such.

That sucks! This is the very reason I bought a cheapy mountain bike just for using at the track.

I trust the other racers, I don't know how many times I've loaned out tools (and my bicycle) to racers I didn't even know and always had them returned to me. Unfortunately I don't trust some of the spectators - even while I'm there with my stuff!  :wtf:

That sucks man.  Total BS that some loser would do that.

Rob, did I read that correctly?  You ran over a kid twice?!

I agree Tornado Bait , we have to have trust in each other , th commraderie that makes this sport what it is. Only to have someone do something like this. I hope it is returned and we can still have our trust intact. Someone said they looked at the junk swap meet and thought it all just looked like scrap for the recycler, bound to bring a different folk to the area.

sorry to hear it did not turn up.  I actually saw a bike laying on its side on the ground in the DucOmaha pit area earlier on Sat, but I can't recall what time.  It had "Klein" on the tubing, must have been yours.  Hope my "city bike" with the cool basket doesn't make it a target :)
