Bad Weather ?????

What happens if you pre enter into a race for the April 5 & 6 weekend at BHF and there's still cold stuff on the ground.  DO you get a full refund or credit for the next race weekend?  Any help would be greatful.

If you don't go at all (you may needed to notify them prior to the event), you can get a refund.  If you go and break down due to a mechanical, you only get a portion back.

The rule book provided some clarification:

3.2 WEATHER CONDITIONS - Events may be run irrespective of weather conditions.
3.2.1 No refund or credit of entry fees will be considered as a result of inclement weather.

D. Pre-entries canceled in writing prior to the opening of registration will be in the form of payment equal to
100% of the entry fees, less a $10.00 administration fee.

Basically, you have to request a refund, at the absolute latest, by the opening of registration on the first day of races.  If you have gone through tech already, forget about getting all of your money back.

Who knows, if a lot of people pull out, there will be more points for you to collect that may come in handy near the end of the season, or if you decide to skip a double points or twin sprints weekend that is too far to go to.  

If you are in the Mid-West, just be prepared for inclimate weather, and don't be afraid to talk to CCS to get weather issues resolved if CCS cancels a race.  I think I remember an Unltd SS race not being run at one venue, and moved to another venue.  However, only those that originally registered for the race were allowed to run in the race, and I don't think everyone showed up.  

BTW, be prepared to talk to officials while you are at the track.  Don't wait until you get home.

I chicken sheeted out of a race last year that I thought was going to be wet, but ended up with a dry line.  Only two guys made the grid in my class.

I know there is no glory in a top three finish if there are only three racers, but after finishing dead last in half my races last year, I would have gladly taken the wood and lied to my non-racer friends. ;D

I will never bail again based on weather.  Always show up and stick around and be prepared to race.

There has been snow on the ground in the past @ BHF. Basically, if they can clear the track and get it in "race condition", they will run the races. Exceptions have included thunderstorms (risk of lightning to cornerworkers and racers), and I would assume ice would also be a weather related exception. Last year @  the spring RA it was 45 and raining during the meat of the day, as well as windy. Races were run as scheduled. Roadracers are not wusses as a general rule, but many were huddled inside of vans and campers for the bulk of the day. Made for a much less interesting weekend.

Some of my most memorable times with friends and family have been during crappy weather.  Hudled together talking trash and just spending time with friends and family.  Maybe BHF will be one of those occassions.  See you all at the track.

The track would have to covered by snow or snowing heavily to cancel the event. We have raced in sub freezing temps and while it is snowing. On time at RA we did not get on the track on Sat until after noon waiting for most of the sun to melt the ice.

I have raced while it was hailing!! marble sized hail too...Nothing like going through turn one at Brainerd as fast as you can go through there when hail starts landing all over you. My first thought was "OH SHEEET! I am riding in marbles!"

Then there was the cold as h@ll 15 degree day at Gateway in early March...and Road America's fun april weekend where it was sleeting...All of this was last year. Hmm, maybe I should move back south!
