Gordie,
All the trees in turn 2 have little yellow bows on them. I looks like they are going to be history.
Bathrooms have walls and a roof so Dave can look forward to that.

GSXR RACER MIKE

Could he possibly be leading the way to a future where BFR is considered not only a fun but a SAFE race track as well?

I was originally worried about this new owner being another car guy, but I have to admit I'm really liking his style so far!  :thumb:

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOOOHOOO! What a freaken ride"

Judging by how excited you guys are I`m guessing the guard rail is gonna get moved also?? :err:

Super Dave

With 35 days left until Blackhawk's first event, it probably will be fall when all the trees and the barriers get moved and rebuilt in the requirements for SCCA.  Some of the trees will go away, which will improve some of the sun that will warm that part of the track, which will be great, but I can't say I know when they are going to get it done.  Too many things still happening, and the weather hasn't been kind this season.

Seven pieces of air fence were added this year.  A big area of trees were removed in the carousel and in the bus stop.  I think they are moving over toward seven to smooth out the ruts and stuff there.  One was addressed over the holidays.

It's going to get better, but it's going to take time.

There's going to be a tire maintenance party on April 5th, a Saturday.  We're invited.  Beer and chili will be available.  The car clubs have done a lot to support this.  I'll put up a post when I get some more details.  I think it starts at 9AM.
Super Dave

I hope the wall gets moved in 2.  I never thought about it while I was racing.  After working the corner in the 3 and watching 2 people hit the was hard it in one day, it kinda scares me.  I can't wait to get out to the track and see all the changes in person.

I recall in 2003 making a fit about the trees in turn 2. It's about time! I guess I won't be the only one holding it wide open in 5th gear there anymore now that less guys will be scared about ending their life there!

Now I think of it Brian, we won't be sliding through turn 2 almost highsiding into 3 when it's damp out since the tree won't water the track down till they are dry. I had a couple moments at that spot.

I'm really looking forward to riding their again :thumb:. The only other complaint I have about the track of which I haven't heard anything would be turn 4. I have no problems there but if a situation were to occur where the front tucks from oil entering that corner I would be face first into that wall and taking a hospital ride for sure. I don't think about things like that when I'm riding but outside of the track it worries me for sure.
Maybe move the wall back so the bikes don't fly into the spectators and we have more room to slow down before impact. If they filled the exit full of peagravel it wouldn't matter since the high curb on the outside of 4 would just ramp us into the wall over the gravel anyways.
I'm not a fan of peagravel when it comes to bike damage but it has saved my ass a few times for sure.

I also mentioned back in 2003 to paint the curbing like yellow or red/white to help give the riders better reference points around the track. It's hard to see over the curbs while turning in when your handlebar is almost scraping them at the apex. Plus it would dress up the tracks appearance.

I'm happy for the changes thus far although I would have still raced there.
I'm a big advocate for rider safety. I don't skimp on my riding gear but that don't help if you hit a wall head on anyways.

I remind everyone to show how much they apprieciate the changes to the owner. I can't wait to meet this guy.
