At the first race at MSRHouston Larry Myers won 5 out of 6 races he entered, only not winning an open class race to his buddy and national superstar Ty Howard. The horsepower of Ty's 750 was just too much for Larry's 07 KawZX6R. Larry and Ty had a good race in the morning on 600's  going back and forth on the last lap. Larry even won a 600cc race on his Aprilia motard. When was the last time you remember a motard winning an expert 600cc race? Larry was quick to give credit to his Pirelli tires that were insanely good in the dry and wet.

Any idea how many entries they got?

Larry and Ty showed, did any of the other CMRA guys show?

he told me the big bike turnout was pretty good but sounds like the other classes were fairly light. We didnt get into how many cmra guys showed or what total grids were. Travis forgot about the superbowl and this hurt the numbers for sure.

i believe weather condition and superbowl greatly affected the turnout for this race.

keep in mind that this was the FIRST CCS-South race, and the FIRST motorcycle race to be held at MSR-Houston.....so i think the main reason was people were weary on being the "first"...or test dummies if you will. a lot of spectators were CMRA racers as well....from what i was told by many, i believe they want to make sure things were well organized before some of them jump in and start racing.

i believe the next MSR-Houston race in april will have a WAY better turnout.

i would have to say, most if not all, were/are CMRA members. (not including the few yellow shirts that were out there) i counted approximately 50 racers. some of the playing field was not very filled up at all...but it was expected because of superbowl sunday and weather conditions.

btw, congrats to Larry myers for the spectacular win on the motard against the 600cc playing field.

and also to Ty Howard for setting a new track record for CW direction.
