it was supposed to be a joke, thats why there was a smiley afterwards
at Road A he didn't check a damn thing but gave me shit for my serif on my 1.  Hell he saw it at HPT and didn't say a word about it

Doh! I thought maybe it was a typo. Sorry! :)

I thought the number one should *not* have serifs? It should be a straight up and down stick - l - like in the pics above. If the top serif "wing" is too big, it can be mistaken for a 7. FYI I haven't found any normal sans-serif fonts that have a number one without at least some kind of notch or serif at the top. (I use a lower case "l" or capital "I" - which look correct depending on the font as long as they don't have serifs on it.)

The font used in the CCS Rules is Arial Narrow Bold - but if you look at the 1 that they use in their sample, it's actually a lowercase L because the 1 in that font has a serif.  Using a lowercase L is easier than a "serif-cision" (love it!), although its dimensions make it slightly taller than an actual 1 would be.

Alternatively, the font Gill Sans MT looks similar to the specified numbers in the Rules, and does NOT have a serif on the 1.  I asked CCS and its use for race numbers is permissible.  You can see a sample here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gill_Sans or MS-Word has it (at least my copy does).  Personally, I think that they're easier to read than Arial since they're a little straighter, and go on to contoured surfaces easier.

That's why you don't want to win the championship and get the #1 plate.  Too many headaches with all the serifs on pre-bought #1's!
