Does anyone know if the AlpineStars Magnesium Alloy Toe Sliders are track/race legal?  Supposedly they don't heat up and don't throw off sparks, but last a lot longer than the regular plastic kind.  I saw something about them in this thread:

But noone says if they're legal or not, just that they don't spark (confirmed by AlpineStars as well, that they don't spark).

Supposedly they last about 4x longer than the plastic sliders, but only cost about $6 more per set, so I'm interested in switching to them.

Thanks.

If they do not spark, then they are legal. The rules only prohibit sparking sliders (knee or toe), not metal ones.

But they have been on perpetual backorder for the past 3 months...

I used them for two rounds last year with great results.  They don't spark, and last much better than the plastic ones.  I used to go through one right slider per race, but these went four races and are scraped, but barely worn.  That being said, Rob's right they have been on backorder forever!!!

I'm sure that I'll agree, whenever I FINALLY get them, as they've been on backorder for a while now.  I MIGHT have them in time for Daytona.  I may just order them off of eBay, where I've seen a few sets for sale lately.

A teammate of mine still has a new set if you need some before Daytona.
