aluminum fabricator

I may need a piece made up for my wifes DR200, a skid plate to be exact. Anyone know of a good fabricator?  I could do one in steel no problem but would rather do aluminum but I don't have welding capabilities for that.

I'm still looking for one on the market but so far no good.

I made a few in the past.  No welding, but clamps are hard to come by.  You can bend 5124 (like diamond plate w/o the diamonds) to a 45 degree in a vice without breaking just by adding a little heat from a propain torch.  Check out hardware stores or scrap yards for the materal.  Make a model from heavy cardboard. and remember to add twice the thickness to any bend, so as to not come up short.

or you could do as Unforgivenracing said but i believe if you use 3003  you should be able to bend with out heat in a smooth jawed vice and with a good pair of flat tongs. but then thickness comes into play .125 is 1/8" in aluminum and is going to be hard to bend. .090 is 3/32 might be a little easier

Gordy, there's a guy in Brookfield by the name of Paul Rinders 262-785-1038 who is a welding genius.  He welds anything (including aluminum / ti / etc) and will fabricate anything you need.  Now, be forewarned.  He is old, crochety, racist and VERY vocal.  Before you leave, you will know his views on race, religion and politics.  BUT he does damned good work...
