I figure I'd better start early on this one 'cause I'm clueless. What do you buy 12 year old boy for Christmas???  He's rather plump so I can't/won't buy him video games.  I wanted to get him a bag of carrots and a soccer ball but mom said that was mean.  Any ideas from people with kids?

Punching bag.
Big guys can see results and power gains with practice. Their size is an asset and it soups up their egos about their size. and helps keep them of the couch.

if you have the time to spend with him, there is a family membership for the YMCA.  Swimming is fun and a good way to cut the weight, and get is shape for that mini bike. Plus he will probubly make some friends.  It's a start for keeping him out of trouble also.  (NO, I dont work for the YMCA)

RC cars are always good, it's fun, gets them outside, and if you get the kind they build it'll teach him a mechanical skill building it.
