What the fuck are they fucking thinking putting that fucking wire barrier on the fucking median of fucking I90? Armco is bad enough when it involves motorcycles, but this stuff is fucking fatal to a simple lowside. If they are having problems with cars crossing the median, maybe IL shouldnt just hand out licenses like candy to every fucktard mouth-breather that applies.

All about the lawsuits nowdays I would assume, a motorcyclist getting taken out in a single vehicle accident isn't alot of concern to them. A semi driver falling asleep and crossing the median into a loaded schoolbus is probably more their concern. Those wires are on I-88 too (which is a toll road like I-90), but not on I-39 which is a Freeway, so I believe it's something to do with the Toll authority (the same people who just put up all those pretty new Toll Plaza's and tripled our toll fees in the process  :finger:).

You're not one of those guys who warn snowmobilers about getting decapitated with barbed wire when they're gassing up, are you?

It is interesting how perspectives change based on personal experience.  One of my best friends was killed on that road at mile marker 51 about 10 years ago when his car crossed the median and ran head on into a semi.  Left a wife and two beautiful young daughters.  Every time I go to BHF I pass the spot where he died and think of him.  When they put up that cable all I could think about was that if they'd put it up sooner he'd probably still be here.

That said, I agree with Rob that it's dangerous to bikes, but I don't think leaving plastic snow fence up all year would do the trick.

Deep gravel will stop cars, semi's and motorcycles. Works in Cali on mountain roads for semi's. Seen these 'barriers' in other states years ago and they removed them due to be more dangerous than not being there at all. Even K-rails are better than the wire ones.

Ever look at the reversables on 90/94? After you get through all the silly gates on the closed ramp you hit an arrestor that will stop a truck at 55 MPH. talk about  :banghead:

Are you talking about the CTA Blue Line Fence in the middle of the highway there (not sure what part of 90 your talking about)?  :err:

When reversable lanes (express lanes) are running West bound the East bound entrances will be closed and there are a bunch of gates like train crossing gates. If you break through all those then you will hit an arrestor barrier that can stop a semi.
