I would like to race an SV650 naked. CCS and other race organizations require a 3.5 quart belly pan.

Does anyone know of a nice looking belly pan that race legal? Any help would be appreciated !

BRG Racing sells a simple and cheap belly pan for the SV that is legal for WERA and CCS.

I've seen them homemade out of aluminum that look okay.  Look at any photo's of Midwest Amateur Rider #988 (Brian Wiess) on sliderphoto.  Thats who I saw running it.

Find a trashed lower (any type) and trim it up to fit ;D  I did that for half a season once.  In a pressure situation once, i used a Turkey basting pan from the grocery store and safety wired that beatch to bottom of the frame ;D

I get it now.  HA hA HA ha haha.  Is your belly really 3.5Q? Go on a diet, and for god's sake, buy some leathers!

Ha Ha....good catch ! Thanks for the info...I was hoping for something a little more sporty than a turkey baster, but seeing I'll be out there naked maybe it won't matter  ;D

well... if you wanted to get really creative... (and have some time on your hands)... you could make your own out of fiberglass. i made one for someone's bike last summer. but, i definately don't recomend this if you have any type of respiratory problem...such as asthma... the fumes can cause some problems... trust me, i know from experiance....

As you can see by the picture, we used to have full race body work on our SV, but RA took care of that.  We just took the lower, cut it down, made some brackets and ran with that.

I have heard that the belly pans that they use for the Buell's work also.

Jen, after the first crash and working with glass I found out very quickly that I'm NOT good at it :o(

And Dawn that's a great idea, but I was soooo pissed after the second crash on turn 10 at Homestead this passed weekend that I just through all the mangled plastic in the garbage....now I could kick myself in the butt.....but it still hurts tooo bad  :-[

However, now that I'm thinking straight again....I could take the lowers from one of my race buddies and use that as a mold to make my own as Jen suggested....and Dawn reccomended  ;D

Thanks for the ideas !!

Also, if you do make your own then, of course use adequate ventilation, and the masks over your mouth.

Jen, I think if we had a fan going on low, blowing fumes towards the alley, and were wearing masks to keep out any glass fibers, we would not have had those problems with Bill's bellypan.

I've learned a LOT about getting things done BEFORE you NEED to. A LOT of things that weekend were stressful.

svbusa, I've got an SRAD GSXR lower that you're more than welcome to have. If you chop it, you can use just the bellypan on the SV if you make some brackets. I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping. I could take some pics, and even cut some if it down for you to keep costs down.

Let me know. I'll never use it probably, so the offer is there.
