Midwest Overall Points question
« on: June 22, 2007, 01:34:39 pm »
Was just perusing through points stuff, curious to see how low I was on the list :blahblah: and noticed that because AM/EX are combined for points for ULWSB, the ULWSB Experts are listed in both the AM and EX overall points. The amateurs are listed in both as well.

I personally don't really care because it doesn't affect me because I'm slow, don't know if it really matters to anyone else, and I doubt I'm really affecting anyone being all the way down at 129th in EX, but one of the Experts is in the top 20 for Amateurs. That seems kind of not fair to the guys right behind him?

If there's a reason for it, I'm curious what that is. If nobody cares, cool - just thought I'd mention it if it's not supposed to work that way.

Well, it's a nice thought, but I shouldn't be on the Expert list at all... I'm an Amateur with all of four races under my belt. I've got a ways to go before I'm worried about it. :)

Good point. Would be nice to get a response from someone in the know. Doesn't seem right to me. You're either AM or EX. Not both.

Truth is, traditionally there have not been very many entries for the ULW classes, so this is a way of keeping the class alive for the budget racer. I think that if entries in the class started to climb (12-15), then they would separate EX from AM in the points scheme.

Alexa, I think Truckstop is talking about the fact that she is being listed in the Expert OVERALL ranking and there are Experts listed in the Amateur OVERALL ranking. The combining of Ex & Am in ULW is understandable but it seems to have given the comoputer indigestion in the calculation of overall rankings.

See, I have so little time that i read too fast, as you are correct, sir.

Now as far as 'comoputers'...I have no idea what you might be talking about. ;)

Yaw, I'm not always so good with getting my point across, but y'all got it now - just meant the overall standings. It just didn't seem right that EX were listed for AM and vice versa, Hawk explained it much mo' better.

As far as AM/EX being combined as a class for ULWSB, if it keeps the class alive and allows me a place to race my little bike I'm ok with that. Since you and Don are out this year and Scott moved on to another class, I'm doing what I can to bring other people in, but I fear for the little oddball bike class.

There's got to be a bunch of folks with FZR400s, CB1s (I know where Ed Keys old bike is at!) and EX500s that can bring 'em out of mothballs. This should be a fun playful class! Cheap, too, especially if you're already at the track racing something else. Also, it's a good way to get a kid started without breaking the bank trying to decide if they like the sport.

You may be onto something Alexa.  Almost sounds like the makings of a 'VINTAGE' class!!!    Oh, what a concept! :thumb:

Pretty novel idea if you ask me!  Lower cost to start racing, get new people involved.  Good for everyone!   :kissy:
